The Organizing Committee of the 5th Pannonian Symposium on CNS Injury just had learned that Professor Marmarou has passed away on the 22nd of January.
Professor Marmarou previously agreed to come to participate as a keynote speaker at our meeting.
The organizers, including Professor Barzo, member of the scientific advisory board have invited him as a leading figure in the field of neurotrauma; his expertise were well recognized in the research fields of brain edema and hydrocephalus as well as the application of MRI in neurotrauma-research.
We clinicians also have lost a pioneer in guideline development and experimental therapy of traumatic brain injury.
Professor Marmarou was one of the engines of the First Pannonian Symposium, and, we hoped to have him with us in Pecs and celebrate our anniversary meeting together.
Now we only can promise that his spirit will stay with us and those Hungarian colleges who were trained in his department and may proudly identify him as their former mentor will keep his legacy! |
